Diamond Dave (C64)
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
Diamond Dave, the eccentric grandson of Rockford's maternal uncle, embarked on a whimsical adventure that defied the laws of time and space. You might be scratching your head, wondering who in the world Rockford is. Well, let me enlighten you. Rockford was that adorable little guy who made a name for himself back in 1984 by tirelessly digging through caves to amass a collection of dazzling diamonds.
Fast forward 40 years, and here's Dave, attempting to navigate the convoluted family tree and make sense of his relationship to Rockford. Is he a cousin? A nephew? A brother-in-law? Frankly, no one seems to have a clue anymore, and Dave is just rolling with it.
In a stroke of serendipity (or perhaps sheer absurdity), Dave stumbles upon an old, abandoned diamond mine rumored to be ripe for exploration. Armed with nothing but a pickaxe and a sense of adventure, he delves deep into the earth, unaware of the time-bending chaos that awaits him.
Suddenly, as if plucked straight out of a cheesy sci-fi flick, Dave finds himself hurtling through a swirling vortex—a time portal that catapults him back to the very year Rockford first began his diamond-collecting escapades.
And there he is, standing in a cave straight out of the '80s, complete with pixelated graphics and minimalist sound that would make even the most ardent retro gamer cringe. But hey, let's not get bogged down in the details. It's all part of the charm, right?
As Dave grapples with the absurdity of his situation—a time paradox, a chance encounter with his ancestor, or just a downright cheap knockoff of the original—he shrugs off the existential crisis and plugs his joystick into port 1.
After all, who needs logic when you're on a quest for diamonds? So, with a hearty chuckle and a playful wink at the absurdity of it all, Diamond Dave sets off on his own pixelated adventure, ready to carve out his place in the annals of retro gaming history.
